A collection of fine pens, belonging to the screen legend Sir Christopher Lee CBE (1922 – 2015) will be sold at Dreweatts & Bloomsbury Auctions on 12 April (10am) at Donnington Priory, Newbury, Berkshire. This fine pen collection comprises 16 lots, with prices ranging from £80 - £800.

The much loved English film star and icon Sir Christopher Lee was perhaps best known for his villainous portrayal of Count Dracula in the original Hammer Horror films of the late 1950s. He had an impressive film career spanning over 70 years and appeared in films such as The Wicker Man, The Lord of the Rings trilogy and Star Wars, and in 2001 he was awarded with a CBE in recognition for his services to Drama.

Two standout lots in this special collection are a fine Montblanc Meisterstuck model black fountain pen complete with Sir Christopher Lee’s distinctive signature engraved on the barrel (Lot 483, est. £300-500, pictured).  The other is a beautiful Montblanc Meisterstuck Pix ballpoint pen, also in black and engraved Christopher Lee with a circular cut sapphire set at the cap end (Lot 484, est. £150-250, pictured).

A chic Montblanc presentation set given to Sir Christopher and Lady Lee on their 50th Wedding Anniversary is another highlight in the sale this April. Lee met his wife, the Danish painter and former model Birgit "Gitte" Krøncke in 1960, and the pair married the following year. The set containing two luxury pens to mark the couple’s marital milestone contains both a Meisterstuck 146 and 149 Solitaire Doue Geometric Dimension black fountain pen, each with caps decorated in a striking geometric design (left). The pens are displayed in a personalised presentation box with the engraved dedication: Gitte & Christopher, 50 Years of Love & Passionate Commitment (Lot 490, est. £500-800).

The consignment also comprises fine fountain pens by Parker, Montegrappa and the German luxury brand Graf von Faber. In addition to Lee’s collection, the auction at Dreweatts & Bloomsbury will feature a selection of beautiful, vintage fountain pens as well as limited edition fine pens from major collectable brands as previously mentioned along with pieces by Pelican and Omas. Dreweatts & Bloomsbury are proud to be one of only a few major international auction houses to offer specialist Fine Pen sales. This sale will also offer jewellery and silver items.
