Rare Oil by Royal favourite Edward Seago could make up to £30,000

A scarce 1953 oil on canvas by Edward Seago that shows Piccadilly and the Ritz Hotel at Coronation time, is to be auctioned at Lawrences of Crewkerne on October 12th with estimate of £20,000-30,000

The oil on canvas was painted by Edward Seago (1910-1974), who was selected as an official artist for the Coronation in 1953 because of Queen Elizabeth’s fondness for his work.

Great Results at Summers Place

The second “Conversation Pieces” live auction took place on Tuesday, 20th March at Summers Place Auctions in Billingshurst, Sussex and the sealed bid part closed on Wednesday, 21st March 2018.

The top lot in the live auction were the monumental bronze lions after Sir Edwin Landseer which sold for £100,000 (hammer, £127,000 including premium and VAT) at top estimate. They were copied from the famous Trafalgar Square lions in the late 20th century for Camden Lock Market.
