THINK MID-CENTURY Scandinavian design and thoughts turn to sleek and teak, clean lines and elegant forms: the kind of cool and sophisticated minimalism we quite rightly associate with Scandi chic. But don’t forget that the part of the world that gave us Ikea also gave us the Moomins! And it’s this more quirky side of Scandinavian cool I want to look at – in particular, the lovely homeware ranges produced by Norwegian ceramics company Figgjo Flint. And the designs of the Figgjo Flint ceramics most popular with mid-century collectors are, for the most part, the work of one woman: Turid ‘Turi’ Gramstad Oliver.
