BarbMama Design was founded in 2012 and is based just outside of Amsterdam, and is the result of a lifelong love for beautiful things. The owners Marc and Barbara Jongsma and partner Marcel Geerts, share a passion for Mid-century design, whether it’s a sought after iconic design from the likes of Jean Prouvé, Wegner or Finn Juhl, or a beautiful piece from a lesser-known designer; if they love it - they buy it!

This has resulted in an impressive and eclectic collection of design from the 1950s up to the present day. Their taste is broad and adventurous and ranges from the austerity of classic Dutch and Scandinavian furniture, to the more outrageous such as 1980s Memphis design.

Barbmama concentrate on building their business year on year to take it to another level.

Today, they sell beautiful, high quality items, either restored or re-upholstered with great attention to detail, presentation and service, which they deliver worldwide.

They will also be at Design Icons in April, where they will surprise the Amsterdam audience yet again, this time with a display of a 60-year-old fully restored lounge chair designed by Ivar Dysthe for the Norwegian Dokka Møbler alongside other specially selected items.

Marcel told us that he believes they have the best job in the world, being surrounded with beautiful design - and don’t we all have to agree with him!
