The Brussels Design Market

Brussels Design Market has evolved a lot and is now the largest market devoted to vintage design in Europe. Since 2002 it has quickly become one of the must-attend events of the international design sector. These are a few of the important dates over the years:

2002. The first edition takes place over one day and is held outside in tents on the place Saint-Lambert in Woluwe. There are around 30 Belgian exhibitors with only three or four vendors from the Netherlands and Germany.

2010. Eight years after its creation, the Market moved to the Maritime Station of Tour & Taxis. This allows vendors to bring their vehicles directly to the site to unload, and it became a two day event with dealers from all over Europe attending. The event now takes place twice a year, in April and September, both with 80 exhibitors.

VE - Supporting Shows in Europe

In the past couple of years we have  supported Design Icons, Amsterdam, Brussels Design Market, Design Börse Berlin, Design Classics Dusseldorf, DesignMarkt Ghent, Parma Vintage, Prague Vintage Fair, Flash Festival Brussels and the Dutch National Art Deco Fair. We work closely with organisers to help promote them to a UK audience, and as we also supply magazines to the shows (and attend wherever possible). The shows are also publicised to attendees in Europe too. We feature interesting European collections and stories.

We’ve traipsed through sub-zero winters, with frozen canals, thick snow and biting winds, to make our way to the De Kromhouthal building in the north of the city, and we’ve loved every minute of it! However this year, it’ll be a whole new experience for us, as the date has been moved to April so spring will certainly be in the air, which in turn is likely to bring even more visitors than usual.

The fair was fully booked by early December, sooner than ever before, with an exhibitors list that stretches from Holland, Germany and Belgium, across to Italy, Sweden and the UK.
