Les Puces du Design was the first European market exclusively dedicated to furniture from the post-war era. Created in 1999 by founder Fabien Bonillo, who was then one of only 15 merchants in France specialising in furniture from the 50s to the 70s. He wanted to share his passion for design at a time when the vintage word was known only to wine lovers and some fashion enthusiasts!

The first edition of the Puces du Design was only one day long and gathered a dozen participants. However it was widely supported by the press and, carried by the enthusiasm of a curious audience, a second edition took place later that same year. The event quickly gathered momentum, attracting major personalities from the French vintage design scene, later joined by European gallery owners and in 2007, specialists in vintage fashion. In 2016 the show once again evolved, welcoming new young exhibitors from the world of contemporary design.

As the only event in France of this scale, they return this April for the 40th edition celebrating their 20th anniversary under a new name: Design Fair Paris x Les Puces du Design. More than being an exceptional meeting of antique dealers, specialists in fashion and furniture of the 20th century and contemporary design, each edition of the Fair is accompanied by an event.

For its 20th anniversary the Fair has decided to pay tribute to the most legendary couple in the history of design, Charles and Ray Eames. The pieces designed by the couple more than 70 years ago have been sold in the millions; be it the versions by Hermann Miller for the United States, Vitra for Europe or the vintage models passionately found by design dealers.

Go along to their anniversary edition and rendezvous with the icons of the past from Paulin to Jacobsen, from Starck to Mouille, but also the many contemporary designs that will no doubt become the collector’s pieces of the future.

VE and design shows in Europe

Dusseldorf.png

VE Magazine has supported numerous European Design Shows since we started out in 2011, and we continue to do so today not only as publishers, but as dealers too under the VE trading arm, Molecula.

We have supported Design Icons - Amsterdam; Les Puces du Design - Paris; Brussels Design Market; Design Börse Berlin; Design Classics Dusseldorf; DesignMarkt Ghent; Collect-hit, Parma Vintage; Prague Vintage Fair; Flash Festival Brussels and the Dutch National Art Deco Fair.

We work closely with organisers to help promote their events to a UK and European design-led audience, and supply copies of the magazines to each of their shows, either in person or by courier. We create and share content across our huge social media audience to publicise the shows; write blogs and online news stories in liaison with the event organisers.

If you organise a European design show and are interested in working with us, then please get in touch for more information here. Also, if you have a vintage business in Europe and would like to join the plethora of dealers who advertise with us, then please contact us here.

We always feature interesting European collections, designers and stories. In the past we have featured the amazing Designpanotikum in Berlin, and the fabulous creations of Frank Buchwald; designers such as Friso Kramer, Figgjo Flint, Rowac, Bauhaus and Poulsen; Polish Film Posters, Dutch, Danish, US and Finnish furniture and much, much more. We have a large number of subscribers from both Europe and Scandinavia, the USA and Australia, as well as here in the UK.
