LINDY HOP THE weekend away at this popular event, called ‘one of Britain’s best vintage festivals’ by The Telegraph and get ready to fully immerse yourself in the nostalgic days of the 1940s.
Music will fill the air throughout the dockyard, with songs of the time from a fantastic line up of musicians. There will also be plenty of opportunities to shop for those 1940s fashion essentials with vintage clothing stalls throughout the site. Arrive in your best wartime fashions or buy when you’re there – but don’t miss out on joining the fashion parade at the end of the day!
Be in awe of the wonderful vintage and classic cars lining the dockyard and see them in all their beauty as they parade through the streets.
Learn what life was like on the home front and at war from hundreds of dedicated re-enactors, and you can even experience an air-raid first-hand. On top of all the festival fun, the dockyard’s usual galleries and museums will be open, including HMS Cavalier, the last remaining Second World War Destroyer. You can also climb onboard HMS Gannet or HM Submarine Ocelot to discover what wartime life was like at sea.
After all that exploring, you’re sure to be hungry and thirsty – but fear not, you won’t need your ration card to dig in to some delicious traditional fish and chips.
